Water infiltration & erosion control
TILTEX Australia’s installation team completed a major water infiltration barrier and erosion control to the ROM Wall Crusher project at Ironbridge Mine, Pilbara WA. The team installed TILTEX 12 P, 80 MPa Compressive Strength over 50 meter long steep batters. It was secured with a soil anchor grid system designed to endure 50m/second winds.
TILTEX 12 P was specified for covering slopes above the ROM Wall and its primary design was to inhibit water in filtration behind the metal facing wall panels and provide ground surface erosion protection of batter slopes.
The project involved deploying TILTEX 12 P’s 5 meter wide x 20 meter long rolls longitudinally down the steep batters and seaming with our unique TILTEX P STAB 40 seaming system. Installing a soil anchor grid system at 2 meter grid pattern and 2 peri meter soil anchors at 0.5 meter spacing. 4 400 m of TILTEX 12 P were used in this project.
Hydrating TILTEX 12 P on steep slopes was achievable with exclusive Saturation Hydrator apparatus. This provided an even distribution of water through TILTEX 12 P’s matrix structure, ensured there was no unset cement and initiatedcuring to 80 MPa compressive strength and 16.1 MPa flexural strength properties.
