Drainage system

TILTEX P was chosen for a major drainage project at a gold mine 900 km from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. TILTEX 10 P provided an impermeable barrier over a 10 m wide stepped ditch, designed to control and channel rainwater and surface runoff. The aim was to divert water away from the fractured rock formations, thereby preventing potential undermining of the rock shelf’s structural stability.

Given the potential for rainfall of up to 200 mm during a single weather event, TILTEX P was the obvious choice. The 5 x 20 m rolls allowed for rapid installation through the use of overlapping panels, which were bonded with adhesive to both the substrate and the rock trench walls. An important feature of the product was its resistance to over-watering, which was crucial due to the  frequent and heavy rainfall, occurring both day and night.
